Lanzarote is well known as a winter sun destination and popular with anyone looking to escape the gloom of the British winter. It's proved to be especially popular with our guests, who regularly return with us to sample the island's consistent surf and warm water. Exposed to the Atlantic, our beach has surf all year round and the waves break over a forgiving sandy bottom, unlike most surf spots in the Canaries. We have been organising holidays to this beach since 1997 and consider the surf ideal for beginners and intermediates with a variety of waves and wonderfully clear water.
Location
Our base is Playa de Famara, a spectacular four mile bay hidden away on the uncrowded north west coast of Lanzarote. Famara is a sleepy fishing village peppered with local restaurants and low-key bars well away from the large resorts. The island is situated off the coast of North Africa and is only a four hour flight from the UK. Lanzarote is renowned for its dry warm climate and its dramatic landscape, a legacy of its volcanic history.
Accommodation
Apartments: Stay in self catering apartments located in the village of Caleta de Famara. The appeal of these basic and clean apartments lies in their proximity to the beach and their local flavour - a refreshing change from typical resort accommodation. They are fully self-contained and within easy walking distance of the beach.
Bungalows: Our Famara bungalows are located directly overlooking the beach just steps from the surf. Private and detached, they are a great option for families or a group of friends looking for a holiday on the beach. Range of sizes and bedrooms available.

Surf Instruction
We have teamed up with Lanzarote's best surf school to offer a range of courses for all abilities. They have been instructing on Famara Beach for over 15 years and their British team of instructors are fully qualified.

Apartments: From £319 per week (two bedrooms)
Bungalows: From £385 per week (two/three bedrooms)
Surf Instruction: From £42 per day including all equipment
The Flights
One of the many advantages of choosing Lanzarote is the choice and availability of flights. Numerous flights depart every Thursday from most regional airports and some weekend departures are also available. Our accommodation and surf courses operate every day so you have the flexibility of choosing your departure date.
Lanzarote's only airport is Arrecife (ACE).

Surf South West do not book flights, however we can assist you in obtaining good prices from Robinson Travel, a retail agent for an ATOL holder. We will negotiate the provisional arrangements for your flights that are appropriate to your itinerary and then put you in touch direct with Robinson Travel for you to pay and book your flights. In return Robinson Travel will confirm your flight times and invoice you separately. Please note that we do not take payment for flights ourselves, however by ensuring that you are booking with a retail agent for an ATOL holder you can be assured that your flights are financially protected under an ATOL licence.
