Surf Morocco with Surf South West

Surfing in Moroco

Sunday 7th November to Sunday 14th November 2010- From £319 per person

Surf

Our latest surf holiday destination is Morocco  and our base is Taghazoute, a location surfers have been drawn to since the 1960s due to the consistency and variety of its winter waves. The most famous wave in the area is Anchow Point, renowned for the long rides that roll down the headland just outside the village. Within the village you will find two sand bottom pointbreaks and two beachbreaks providing ideal waves for beginner and intermediate surfers. There will also be the opportunity to explore the coast north of the village and seek out empty beaches and secret spots. If you are looking to improve your surfing, Surf South West’s senior instructors will be on hand to offer coaching and guidance for all ability levels. Our proven coaching techniques including video analysis will ensure your surfing progresses to the next level. Take your own board or hire locally; the choice is yours.

Location

Morocco is a kingdom sandwiched between the Sahara Desert and the Atlantic Ocean offering a vibrant mix of exotic culture and renowned surf. The country’s dry and sunny winter climate makes it an ideal escape from the cold of northern Europe and is just a 3½ hour flight away. Situated just north of the popular tourist resort of Agadir, Taghazoute retains the traditional feel of a Moroccan village albeit with a few surf shops dotted among the local merchants and cafes.

Accommodation

We are staying in a friendly guesthouse located directly overlooking the village beachbreak and pointbreak with waves literally a few steps away. The rooms are basic but comfortable offering fantastic beach and coastal views and there are two large sun terraces to unwind and soak up some rays after a surf. Breakfast is provided and the guesthouse incorporates a popular restaurant serving a mix of Moroccan and western dishes. Free wi-fi internet access is also available.

Other Activities

No trip to Morocco is complete without a visit to a local souk (market) – Camel rides are available along nearby beaches – Sunset barbeques on the roof terrace.

Surf Morocco

" On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week I had a couple of lessons with Surf South west on Croyde beach and would like to pass on a massive thanks. Prior to the first lesson, I had never been on a board, in fact my wetsuit had never even been damp! With your help I managed to progress amazingly quickly i.e.: I didn't eat too much sand and I caught the majority waves I went for. I now have the surfing bug and can't wait to get out there again. I really can't thank you guys enough for the easy going, fun and ultimately very effective lessons. "
